Descrizione dell'iniziativa

The course aims to introduce students to the world of large-scale infrastructure project management, highlighting the complexity and breadth of issues to be considered in modern construction, such as the impact of climate change, new digital technologies, and life-cycle design. The program includes a series of five sessions, each lasting three hours, featuring the participation of professionals from various engineering companies active in the infrastructure sector (such as Amplia, Maccaferri, Tecne, etc.), as well as a technical site visit to a highway or railway construction site at the end of the course. In the first lesson, a "challenge" will be launched, addressing a real engineering problem to be tackled in small groups. The various proposals will be submitted 10 days before the final lesson, during which each group will present a short "elevator pitch." The topics covered can be summarized as follows:

  • Understanding the Role of Infrastructure and the Engineer
  • Behind the Scenes of Engineering: Design, Production, and Construction
  • Smart Engineering: Efficiency and Safety
  • Green Infrastructure: Strategies and Technologies for Sustainability
  • Inside the Construction Site: From Theory to Practice
  • Technical Visit: Engineering On-Site
  • The course is primarily intended for students enrolled in engineering programs focused on the design and management of large transportation infrastructure projects, including civil, construction, environmental, and management engineering.
