One of the institutional aims of the Politecnico di Milano is the enhancement of research and technology transfer.

To achieve these objectives, it promotes collaborations with public and private entities, promotes the protection of the results of research activities, enhancing them economically, also with the transfer of technology related to the intellectual creations of its researchers, supporting the creation of tools oriented to investment in technological development projects and the start-up of innovative startups.

In this context, the Politecnico promotes the initiatives of its structures, staff and students aimed at the establishment of spin-offs, joint stock companies for the production and marketing of goods and services based on innovation derived from the results of the university's research.
